Online Sports Betting at Bovada.lv
Welcome to Bovada Sportsbook! This is America’s No. 1 destination for people who love to bet on sports – and the industry leader in online sports betting. We have betting odds for all your favorite sports; you can also bet on entertainment, politics, Esports, and Virtual Sports.
We’re more than just an online bookmaker, though. Bovada is the face of the industry, and proud of it, so we’re always working hard to stay on top of our game. And we want you to enjoy the same success – whether you’re a seasoned veteran or you’re betting on sports for the very first time.
That’s why we dedicate ourselves to making sure you have all of the information you need before you place those bets. Let’s start at the beginning with some simple terms and concepts you should know. For more detailed information, consult our FAQ and Help guides, and feel free to browse our archive of helpful sports betting articles if you want to take your game to the next level.
Football betting odds
If you’re betting on football at Bovada Sportsbook, chances are you’re interested in either the NFL odds or the College football odds. The National Football League is the world’s top professional football league, and the biggest league in all of pro sports. Then, of course, there’s hundreds of markets available for the annual Super Bowl championship game.
Basketball betting
Basketball is second only to football when it comes to sports betting in America. Again, the action is split between the NBA odds and the College basketball odds. The National Basketball Association is the top professional league in the world, although Bovada also has Euroleague and other odds alongside our NBA betting lines.
Betting on basketball really starts picking up on December 25, when the NBA presents their annual slate of five marquee matchups – one right after the other, so it lasts all day. Then college hoops takes over with March Madness, the epic 68-team NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament. Bovada is also pleased to offer WNBA odds and NCAA women’s basketball odds to all of our bettors. As with football, point spreads are the most popular way to bet, with totals (aka over/unders) on the final score gaining steam in recent years.
Baseball odds
Baseball betting has been around for well over 150 years – this is America’s national pastime, after all. Because this is a “summer” sport, baseball doesn’t have the same college profile as football and basketball, but with each Major League Baseball team playing 162 regular-season games a year, there’s no shortage of games to pick on Bovada’s MLB odds board.
Baseball isn’t just an American sport, of course. There are quality leagues in Japan, South Korea, Mexico and elsewhere; you can even bet on baseball at the Summer Olympic Games and the World Baseball Classic. And yes, you can bet on college baseball, too, especially during the College World Series in June. Totals and moneylines are the most popular baseball bets; since the scores are so low compared to football and basketball, baseball uses “run lines” instead of point spreads.
Hockey betting
Rounding out the “Top 4” in American sports betting, hockey is one of the most beloved sports in places that actually experience winter – but the National Hockey League is also growing across the southern US. The past 30 years or so have seen teams from Anaheim, Phoenix, Dallas, Miami, Tampa, Nashville, San Jose and Las Vegas added to the NHL odds board.
Hockey betting lines aren’t quite as common in college hockey, but keep your eyes peeled for the last two rounds of the NCAA Division I men’s tournament, aka the Frozen Four. International tournaments like the Olympics, World Cup and IIHF World Junior Championship also do big business with bettors. And as with baseball, hockey bettors are more inclined to bet totals and moneylines than the “puck line.”
Soccer betting
Soccer is the most popular sport in the world, and finally, it’s being embraced in the United States. Chances are you’ll still be more interested in the Premier League (EPL) than Major League Soccer (MLS) when you browse the soccer betting odds at Bovada. However, the MLS has made great strides here recently, especially with Lionel Messi and other big-name players signing.
Joining the EPL in the global “Top 5” soccer leagues are Germany’s Bundesliga, Spain’s La Liga, Italy’s Serie A, and France’s Ligue 1. But just about every country has a viable soccer league these days – and since this is the lowest-scoring sport of them all, the soccer betting lines look a bit different. Check out our expanded Soccer FAQ to learn more.
Tennis odds
Tennis has become the top individual sport when it comes to betting, and the tennis betting odds at Bovada are buzzing throughout the year – even more so when one of the four major tournaments (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, US Open) is on the horizon. You can bet on who will win the entire tournament, or you can bet on the individual matchups.
You’ll find just as many WTA events on Bovada’s tennis odds board as ATP events, and while this is considered a “summer” sport on the betting calendar, tennis is played throughout the year, so there’s always something good to bet on.
FAQ
How does sports betting work?
The spread is the number of points (or goals, runs or other scoring tallies) attached to the favorites and underdogs in a matchup. The favorite must win by more than the spread in order to cover the wager. If they win by less than the spread, the underdog covers. Winning by exactly the spread results in a push, all monies returned.
What is parlay in sports betting?
A parlay is a combination bet including two or more “straight” or “single” wagers (spreads, moneylines and totals), although other bet types can sometimes be used. If all the picks in your parlay come true, the payouts are multiplied together instead of added – but if even one pick fails, the entire parlay loses.
What is moneyline in sports betting?
The moneyline refers to the “fixed odds” attached to a game, meaning no point spread is being used. All you have to do is pick one team/player to beat the other straight-up.
How does betting odds work?
The betting odds show you what each team/player needs to accomplish in order to “cash” your wager, and the payout you’ll receive if they do.
What sports can you bet on?
You can bet on just about everything at Bovada Sportsbook – as long as enough people are interested. Football, basketball, baseball and hockey are the most popular sports in America, but you can also bet on UFC, horse racing, Formula 1, golf, badminton, chess… the list is almost endless. Select the “All Sports” button on our main odds page to find out more.
